Last month I went to Vermont and upstate New York. It was dark and cloudy most of the time I was there, so I didn't get too many good pictures. This is Mirror Lake, in Lake Placid.
First we went to Burlington, VT, and walked around town. We managed to time it perfectly, two hours of sun between torrential rain. I wish Burlington was a bit warmer, I'd love to live there. I don't think I'd like the winters though. We took the ferry to Plattsburgh, NY and drove to Saranac Lake. The town itself seems to be built around Lake Flower. It was a cute town, but I didn't get any pictures. After that, we drove to Lake Placid. Which seems to be built next to Mirror Lake. I have to admit I find the town names confusing. There is a Lake Placid, and a few Saranac Lakes (Lower, Middle, and Upper).
Our car broke down in Lake Placid because the transmission fluid was leaking. It was fixed within an hour and it wasn't nearly as expensive as we feared. By the time we left, many of the cars were gone and had been replaced by motorcycles.
I would have thought the lake beyond would be as much of a stop sign as you would need, but probably at night it's hard to see.
Apparently there are so many lakes that people got bored of naming them. This is Seventh Lake, I believe. Or possibly Sixth Lake. I'm not certain.
Down a dead end road.
We had intended to stay in Lake George, but we weren't the only ones with that idea. There were thousands of people there for a motorcycle rally. We had been seeing them all day, but we didn't know the rally was being held in Lake George. There was no way we would be able to find a room, so we decided to head back to Vermont.
The last day we spent in Brattleboro, VT, and in Keene, NH, before heading back. I've been to Vermont many times, but it was the first time I've been to upstate New York. I'd love to go back in better weather.
